Gender Values: Challenging the Christian Anti-Gender Movement in Central and Eastern Europe

Seminar on 28–30 October 2016 in the European Youth Center in Budapest, Hungary
The European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups invites activists from LGBT Christian and non-Christian groups from Central and Eastern Europe to this weekend seminar.
Background
In May 2015, the European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups has set up a working group on “Gender Ideology” to collect information about the international movement that works against the use of the concept of gender mainstreaming, academic gender theory, same-sex marriage, recognition of equal rights for LGBT people, and proper sexual education. Until now, this working group has put together a bibliography and texts for a toolbox. It has organised the Catholic pre-conference of the Forum’s annual conference.
Goals
Our goals for the seminar are
- to get a better understanding of the Christian anti-gender movement in the regions of Central and Eastern Europe, its support from church hierarchies and lay organisations,
- to develop a coherent counter strategy,
- to improve the networking among LGBT Christians in this region.
Application
Deadline for application: 15 September 2016
You can apply for participation through Google Forms. Please note: the space for accommodation is limited to a maximum of 20 people. Women and trans people will be treated with preference. The seminar will be held in English.

The obligatory conference fee is 25 €. If your application is accepted, your travel costs and accommodation besides the conference fee will be covered by the European Forum.
Please transfer the amount to the bank account of the European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups (transfer purpose: “Budapest Fee”).
